Forever a small fish in a big pond

A little insight

Hey!

I'm Danielle, and I'm pretty much what you'd expect every 23 year old to be..... I study, work, socialise and everything in-between! The only difference being, I do it all at 3f11.

I was born with a condition called Achondroplasia, a hereditary condition in which the growth of long bones by ossification of cartilage is restricted, resulting in very short limbs and sometimes a face which is small in relation to the skull. So in other words- I'm small!
Achondroplasia is the most common form of dwarfism, meaning I am of restricted growth and at 21 years old, stand the same height as your average 6-year-old. Although there are many health conditions and possible occurring issues that are led by my condition, all it really means is that I'm shorter, that's all. As I said- I study, work, socialise... I live just as any other person would and my biggest wish for this world is that they would understand that too.

As a society, we tend to fear the unknown, and despite there being an estimated
651,700 people in the world who are affected by a form on the condition, dwarfism is seen to be as just that. As a result of this, the world we live in often lacks the education and awareness to accept the differences we bring.

Through my journey, I wish to enlighten people of the world I live in which despite being so different... remains to be very much the same as each of you
